SONA: State of Obvious Nightmare Again
Our beloved President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo delivered her 8th State-of-the-Nation Address last July 28, 2008 before the joint session of the Congress. In addition, of course, we heard again a 57-minute speech of a suspicious leader. Her speech was applauded 104 times by a full-packed House of Representatives at the plenary hall.
Is it important to know her accomplishments as a leader of our country? YES of course. Yearly, she always reports to the nation the good things she has done and always makes promises, people keep on hoping she will fulfill.
In her speech, Mrs. Arroyo mentioned eight priority measures appealing to the Congress for their approval by December. What a bill! Actually, in the peoples mind she is the Mother of Corruption. The issue of NBN-ZTE scandal is still in the hearts of the Filipinos, as well as the “Hello Garci” conversation from the 2004 Presidential Election. But, people are intelligent, aware and vigilant.
Going back to her SONA, Mrs. Arroyo said she could not remove the VAT from oil, electricity and foods. It is bad for us students who are suffering from all these. We are only dependents and our poor parents are already buried in debts inspite of non-stop working day and night.
Mrs. Arroyo ever used the text cost to mislead the people on the real issues. All just for a “show”.
We, the youth, are all hungry for the truth and what we need is a “true and sincere State-of-the-Nation Address” done by a “true President” to alleviate poverty and to improve the condition of the Filipinos. The July 28 State-of-the-Nation Address was nothing but a nightmare.
